Editorial Policy

Oldham 360 is direct, resilient and helpful. We lead with the answer, keep advice realistic and include local context only when it helps readers decide what to do next.

What we cover

We publish local business guides, restaurant and shopping recommendations, leisure and event information, attractions and everyday services. We select neighbourhoods, venues and institutions according to the subject and the actual location concerned.

Oldham town and the wider borough

Oldham town centre is distinct from the wider Metropolitan Borough of Oldham. Chadderton, Royton, Shaw and Failsworth are separate towns; Saddleworth is a group of villages and countryside communities, including Uppermill, Greenfield, Delph, Dobcross and Diggle. Lees, Hollinwood, Glodwick, Werneth and other neighbourhoods have their own local context. We use place names accurately and do not imply that every business serves the whole borough.

We distinguish urban parks and local services from upland destinations. Dovestone Reservoir is near Greenfield, Tandle Hill is near Royton, and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through Saddleworth villages. Each may be relevant to a borough-wide guide, but none should be casually presented as a town-centre attraction.

Sources and current details

We aim to use reliable sources close to the subject, such as Oldham Council, Greater Manchester transport information, the business, venue, event organiser or public service concerned. Business status, opening hours, tram and bus services, event programmes, venue names and public-service arrangements can change. We check current details where practical and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.

We do not invent businesses, addresses, prices, reviews, statistics, opening hours or service coverage. We distinguish completed regeneration from proposals and verify whether venues such as Oldham Coliseum are currently operating before describing their status. We avoid unsupported claims about crime, property prices, school rankings or conditions at specific properties.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

We aim to compare options by describing useful features and practical considerations, not by making unsupported “best” claims. A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not in themselves determine our editorial view.

Corrections and updates

If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page address, the detail in question and, if possible, a reliable source. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; for a substantial correction, we may add an editorial note to the page.

A request from a business or individual does not automatically require us to remove content. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.

Scope and limitations

Our guides are selective, not a complete directory of every business, service, attraction or event in Oldham or its borough. Inclusion does not guarantee quality or availability, and absence does not imply criticism. Confirm important details with the organisation concerned.
